Italian woman detained at Lagos airport for refusing to allow her luggage checked

An Italian woman was detained for not allowing her luggage to be checked on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2, Lagos State, on Thursday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the woman was detained for several hours by a combined team of Airport Policemen, Bi-Courtney security men and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
NAN gathered that the passenger, who is married to a Lebanese, had arrived Lagos on an Aero Contractors Airline flight from Abuja around noon.
She was alleged to have prevented officials of Bi-Courtney from screening her bags, a routine protocol at all airports across the globe.

A staff member of Bi-Courtney alleged the woman used abusive words on the officials and forcibly dragged her luggage out from the arrival wing to a waiting Honda CRV.
However, aviation security alerted the Airport Police who prevented the car from leaving the premises until the bags were subjected to screening.
The development attracted the attention of other airport users who insisted that the authorities should detain her and the driver of the car.
After intense argument, the policemen had their way and her bags were checked but nothing incriminating was found in them.
The woman later apologised to staff of Bi-Courtney for her behavior.
