The family of a Muslim teenager who was arrested after a homemade clock he brought into school was mistaken for a bomb are demanding $15million in damages.
Ahmed Mohamed's family are also seeking an apology from the city of Irving and its schools after the 14-year-old was apprehended by police in September this year.

According to NY Daily ,lawyers representing the family sent separate letters to the city of Irving, located west of Dallas, and the Irving Independent School District, saying the ninth grade student was wrongfully arrested, illegally detained and questioned without his parents.
The Mohamed family is asking for $10 million from the city and $5 million  from the school district or they will file civil lawsuits within 60 days, the letter said.

A woman who tried to kill her husband by lacing his drink with antifreeze has been jailed for 15 years.
Jacqueline Patrick, 55, poisoned 70-year-old Douglas Patrick's favourite dink and gave it to him alongside a late night supper on Christmas Day .
She had been encouraged by their daughter Katherine Patrick, 21, who collapsed in the dock in floods of tears as she was jailed for three years for helping her mum.
The court was told that Mrs Patrick had first tried to kill Douglas in October 2013, but when he survived she continued to put harmful substances in his drinks.

A five-year-old girl and a couple have drowned in an uncovered canal at the Ewekoro end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ogun State.

The little girl, identified as Aliyah Hussein, was returning from Abeokuta with her parents on Sunday when she and her mother slipped on the edge of the canal and fell into it.

Our correspondent gathered that a yet-to-be-identified couple also drowned last Monday in the canal, as residents of Ewekoro lamented the failure of the state authorities to put a slab on the open part of the canal and guard it with iron bars so that pedestrians would not fall into it.

When PUNCH Metro visited the area on Thursday, Aliyah’s father, Oseni, said his family was returning from Abeokuta when it rained heavily in the area and caused a traffic gridlock.

Oseni added that his wife was seriously injured, and would also have died but for the quick intervention of other pedestrians who struggled to pull her out.

The devastated father of an eight-year-old who hanged himself after being sent to his room has told how he frantically tried to save his son.
Christopher Furniss-Roe was found in his bedroom after a childish argument with his sister over a red plastic bucket.The pair had been out playing after enjoying the school sports day where Christopher came first in a running race.

"They were both happy and excited about the sports day events and when we got back from school they went out," dad-of-four Jason Furniss-Roe said.
"Kimberly came back in and wanted to get the buckets so they got their buckets and went back out."Then she came back in saying Christopher had smashed her bucket."

9-year-old Tyshawn Lee was walking on Chicago's south side when he was lured into an alley and killed, but his father, whose alleged gang ties are believed to have played a role in the boy's murder, won't talk, according to disgusted police who on Friday pleaded for the community to help identify Tyshawn's killer.

Tyshawn, an elementary school student, was walking to a relative's home at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday when the killer or killers lured him from a nearby park and into a neighborhood alley on the 8000 block of S. Damen Ave., where he was shot in the head and back.

Authorities have called on the child's father, Pierre Stokes, to cooperate with them in solving the murder Monday that they described as "absolutely hateful."

A young mother fled her home in terror after a 'ghost' photobombed her as she took a selfie - just weeks after undertakers claimed there was a dead body at the property.

Natasha Boden, 26, from Blackpool, Lancashire, took the picture on her mobile phone after dyeing her hair blonde.

But the mother-of-one was reduced to tears when she noticed a face lurking near her right shoulder after she zoomed in on the spectral snap.

Ms Boden immediately checked into a hotel for the night and is now looking for somewhere else to live with her partner Mark Donohue and two-year-old daughter Dolly - and has ended the tenancy at her two-bedroom flat.

Khadija Khatoon Khadija, 21, from Kolkata, West Bengal, Eastern India, was born without a face and her mouth is a small slit on the left side of her face. When she was born, concerned doctors were baffled by her condition for months. Although it has never been confirmed, they believe she has a form of neurofibromatosis, a rare deformity that causes tumours to grow along nerves. Medics told Khadija and her family there was nothing they could do after extra skin continued to grow out of control.

Good morning .. I'm a law graduate of Obafemi Awolowo university (preparing for law.)..Law school resumed on Monday November 2nd and till now we have not seen our admission list or posting..

We have been at home since April this year and we have also tried to get in touch with law school to know whats really going on but all to no avail and OAU faculty of law is also silent on this issue..

Please we want you to help us publish this and ask law school whats really causing the delay because other schools have resumed. We were to graduate last year but thanks to ASUU strike we stayed at home for 6 months.. OAU also had internal strike for about two months..

A 20 year old Pakistani woman, Sonia Bibi, died after a rejected suitor set her on fire for refusing his marriage proposal. She was admitted to a hospital last month, where she told police that her former lover had doused her with petrol and set her alight for turning down his proposal.  The incident took place in a remote village of Multan district in central Punjab province. About 45 to 50 per cent of her body had been burned in the attack. Her injuries became infected and ultimately killed her. Police have since arrested a 24-year-old suspect.

The former Wimbledon striker made the shock admission a week after it emerged two top footballers – including an England star – plan to come out. In his first in-depth interview about brother Justin since his tragic suicide in 1998, he said:

A Boston nanny accused of allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the family that employed her now faces federal bank fraud charges, authorities said.

Stephanie Fox, 30, worked for Grace Heintz, a partner at Bain&Co, from February 2013 until this past August. In that time, court records said, she allegedly took checks from Heintz and her husband and “wrote them payable to herself, forged signatures and cashed them.”

In all, the family said it discovered Fox had forged 65 checks totaling more than $280,000. She told the FBI she used the money to buy jewelry, including a diamond pendant necklace and Movado watches, travel -- including trips to the Bahamas, Aruba, Hawaii, Newport, Cape Cod and Disney -- as well as a down payment on a new truck.

 

When confronted, Fox confessed, authorities said.
