Real Madrid are running riot in the first half of their clash against
Sporting Gijon - scoring no less than five goals in the first 40
minutes to continue their scintillating form under new boss Zinedine
Zidane.
Madrid have managed an incredible 10 goals in Zidane's first three
halves of football since he took over from Rafa Benitez, and their game
against Gijon was pretty much done after 12 minutes.
Gareth Bale opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a header -
his seventh of the season - before Ronaldo doubled the lead just two
minutes later.
Karim Benzema ensured that the full 'BBC' were on the scoresheet with
12 minutes gone. Ronaldo swept home a quick break before Benzema added a
fifth before the half-time whistle.
The only downside of an eye-catching first half was the injury picked
up by Bale on the stroke of half-time. There has been no indication
over its severity, however he has been taken off for Jese and is set to
undergo tests for a muscle problem on Tuesday.
