Despite the acquisition of Brazil international Danilo
from Porto, the Spain international has decided to extend his deal for
an additional year
Real Madrid have announced that defender Dani Carvajal has signed a new contract that binds him to the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2020.
The Spain international still had four years to run on his previous
deal with Los Blancos, though some doubt had been cast on his future
following the capital club's acquisition of Brazil right-back Danilo
from Porto.
However, Carvajal has now decided to commit himself to Madrid for an additional 12 months.
The 23-year-old came through the youth team ranks at Real and starred
for the club's B team before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
Madrid, though, put a buy-back clause in Carvajal's contract with the
Bundesliga side and enacted their right to re-sign him the following
summer for an estimated €6.5 million after a stellar debut season in
Germany.
He has since become a regular in the Real starting line-up and was a
part of the team that won both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League
in 2014.
