DIEGO: (smile to himself) life in manila is good.
SAM: santa lucia isn't boring either
DIEGO: it is boring sam,there are no beautiful girls here
compared to manila.
SAM: (laughed uncontrollably) you are tempted by
manila girls when santa lucia's girls are more beautiful
but not rich.
DIEGO: yeah,that reminds me,there is a girl i saw who
lived very close to us. I over heard someone called her
name.
SAM: (sighs) what is her name?
DIEGO: (thinking) hu...em....jo..
johan i'm sure.
SAM: oh johan
DIEGO: yeah
SAM: i don't like that girl.
DIEGO: there you go again,i didn't say you should like
her,but i like her.
SAM: she is too pompous and very harsh,she talks
anyhow to anyone.
DIEGO: c'mon stop being paranoid,she is only trying to
class herself.
SAM: class? (ma'am sarah walked in) hey mom
SARAH: (they all greeted one another) diego,when are
you going back to manila?
SAM: (cuts in) mom,diego should continue his studies
here.
DIEGO: (to sam) no (to sarah) mom, i wish to go after
taking care of you and sam for a while (teasing)
SAM: (laughed) we never missed you diego.
SARAH: okay honey. Where is susan?
SAM: she has gone home.
DIEGO: (confused) mom,who is susan?
SAM: (smile) not a young girl but a laundry woman
(teasing) so she isn't a girl.
DIEGO: (laughing) stop it already sam,i know she can't be
a young girl.
SARAH: okay i should start going already (she kissed them
and left)
DIEGO: susan,(giggles)
SAM: (looks at his wristwatch) oh no,i should be on my
way now,my friends will be waiting for me already.
DIEGO: see you later then (sam left) yeah back to Johan.
LIGHT OUT
(tania and her mom,susan were eating and miah walked
in)
SUSAN: miah,where are you coming from?
MIAH: i went to play with my friends mom.
SUSAN: okay,come and eat your food before it gets cold
MIAH: thank you mom (she joins them on the table)
mommy?
SUSAN: yes miah?
MIAH: (with sad face) while we were playing today
outside japoy's house,i was playing with his toy car and
his mommy came outside,collect
and told me never to steal his son's toys again,she said i
should go back to my poor family and our barn we call a
house (now crying)
SUSAN: (angrilly)what?
TANIA: mommy,we are poor but we aren't thieves
SUSAN: (stood up angrily,held miah's hand and already
dragging her outside) lets go to japoy's house
TANIA: (trying to hold susan) no mom,we can't do
this,please mom
SUSAN: (she forced herself out of tania's hand and went
outside,she got to japoy's house and was calling out to
his mom angrily) mary....mary...
MARY: (came outside) susan,why are you shouting?
SUSAN: mary,why did you called miah a thief
MARY: (smiled) oh that,she tried to steal my son's toy
SUSAN: i trust my daughter she will never do that,we
might b poor but we are not thieves,warn yourself.
MARY: (almost engaging in a fight) so you want to kill me?
(they started fighting until their neighbors intervened)
LIGHT OUT
(diego was seen wandering about in front of johan's
gate,until a car stoped at the gate,the windsreen wined
down and johan was looking at diego)
DIEGO: (looking at johan) hi
JOHAN: (didn't com down from the vehicle) hello.
DIEGO: i'm diego,your neighbor
JOHAN: oh really,ma'am sarah's son?
DIEGO: (excited) oh you know?
JOHAN: yes,she told my mom about it already.
DIEGO: (moved closer to the car and stretched out his
hand to shake Johan) its nice meeting you Johan)
JOHAN: (looked at his hand but didn't move) how did
you know my name?
DIEGO: (felt a bit embarassed and withdrew his hand)
oh,my brother told me already.
JOHAN: so sam is your brother?
DIEGO: yeah (pauses for a while) so can we be friends?
JOHAN: sure,yes we can (she smiled)
DIEGO: (stretched out his hand again) its nice meeting
you
JOHAN: (shake him) the pleasure is mine,see you some
other time diego (she drove in)
DIEGO: (looking at his hand suprisingly with a smile from
the depth of his heart) oh,yes....yes..
o,you're a bad boy,yes (he left happily)
LIGHT OUT
(tania was in ma'am sarah's house washing some
clothes,diego was walking around the house and saw
tania where she was washing,walked up to her)
DIEGO: hi
TANIA: (with a smile on her face) hi
DIEGO: you must be susan?
TANIA: that's my mom,i'm tania
DIEGO: oh tania,so who are you and why are you
washing those clothes?
TANIA: i'm the laundry woman's daughter,she is a bit
ill,so i decided to help ma'am sarah do the washing.
DIEGO: so why are you not using the washing machine?
TANIA: i'm not used to it.
DIEGO: are you that poor,girl?
TANIA: (felt a bit hurt) yes
DIEGO: (now getting angry) is that why you wanna spoil
my clothes?
TANIA: how?
DIEGO: washing them with bare hands so that they can
fade away?
TANIA: thats how i was ma'am sarah's clothes and she
has never complained.
DIEGO: (slapped her)....
