Gareth Bale came to Real Madrid for a record transfer fee and it seems that he is now buckling under the pressure.
Crowds at the Bernabeu have high expectations of the Welsh wizard and
have been disappointed when Bale's performances have been average
instead of magical.
Having lived in Madrid for the past two years, I've seen and heard
the jeering and watched the disappointed crowd of Madridistas make it
clear that they aren't going to cut Bale much slack.
The player has suffered a noticeable downturn since his second season
at the club and this could be due to the lack of support from fans or
from his position in the team.
Bale will continue to live in Cristiano Ronaldo's shadow for the next
few years at least. At Tottenham, he was given the creative freedom and
backing of the manager to create goals. He also had a team completely
built around his creative ability.
